Haute Route Training Plan - Improve
About this plan
This plan is built for Haute Route, start to finish. It is shaped around a long, hard day on the bike, running 17 weeks at a big 14 hours a week, so you know exactly what you are signing up for.
The load builds in three-week blocks and then backs off, so the work actually lands instead of burying you. The hard sessions are dosed the way the research says fitness is built, never piled on as junk volume, and your endurance, your climbing and the way you put the power down all get their turn.
Held to week after week, it is designed to take a real chunk out of your previous time on the day you race Haute Route.

Anyone with Haute Route on the calendar. It is written for a long, hard day on the bike, aimed at a genuinely faster time than last time out, and it assumes you can train consistently at around 14 hours a week.
How much training does it involve?
Plan on 17 weeks and about 14 hours a week. It rises for a couple of weeks, then drops to let the work settle, rather than climbing endlessly until you break.
