Horsepower Coaching Performance Breathwork Program

Did you know you can harness the power of your breath to improve your athletic performance?

In addition to our bespoke coaching services covering Cycling, Triathlon and Endurance events, Horsepower Coaching is now offering athletes a chance to purchase a bolt on Performance Breathwork Program to really access their full potential.


Head Coach and Founder Tom has combined a meta analysis of human performance science, Dr Patrick McKeown's Oxygen Advantage Technique and years of competitive freediving experience to develop our own ground-breaking Performance Breathwork Program, bringing you a one of a kind periodised breathwork program that when woven into your training program correctly, can maximise your athletic ability and transform your recovery.


This program is 100% science backed and built upon multiple pieces of published research.
 

Horsepower Performance Breathwork Program Outline

Foundation

The Initial phase of the program assesses your existing breathing biomechanics and tests your tolerance to CO2. 

The Foundation phase sessions will help you to establish functional breathing patterns that will improve your general wellbeing, lifestyle and sleep.

Tolerance

Once you are breathing functionally, the program focusses on developing your tolerance to hypercapnia (CO2 tolerance) through static and active breathwork practices. 

This phase will improve your ability to use the oxygen you breathe and improve your anaerobic capacity. Both of these will significantly improve your cycling or triathlon performance. 

Race Preparation

This phase is used in the run up to key events and competition to maximise your performance on race day. 

Using advanced active breathwork practices we will simulate high altitude to improve your VO2 max. Research has proven this type of breathwork can increase your VO2 max by up to 8%.

This phase is only deployed in the lead in to an event.

Recover

This phase is about maximising your recovery cycle using breathwork. Using static breathwork practices we will stimulate and strengthen your immune system and trigger the natural production of cortisol in the body. This anti inflammatory will speed up your recovery so you can return to training and competition sooner. 

How It Works

The Horsepower Performance Breathwork Program is a one off purchased program that is accessible through Trainingpeaks. Each phase is purchased individually so you are able to drop them into your Trainingpeaks calendar as you require.


The program includes all of the testing, sessions and video tutorials lead by Head Coach Tom that you need to get the most out of the program.
