Did you know you can harness the power of your breath to improve your athletic performance?

In addition to our bespoke coaching services covering Cycling, Triathlon and Endurance events, Horsepower Coaching is now offering athletes a chance to bolt on a Breathwork Program to really access their full potential. 


We have combined the excellent work and research undertaken by renowned breathwork specialist, Dr Patrick McKeown and his Oxygen Advantage Technique with years of freediving experience, our own breathwork practice and a deep understanding of human physiology to bring you a one of a kind periodised breathwork program that when woven into your training program correctly, can maximise your athletic ability and transform your recovery.
 

Horsepower Breathwork Program outline

Foundation

Through several weeks of 121 sessions we will assess your existing breathing biomechanics and test your tolerance to CO2. 

We will work with you to establish functional breathing patterns that will improve your general wellbeing, lifestyle and sleep.

Tolerance

Once you are breathing functionally, we will develop your tolerance to hypercapnia through static and active breathwork practices. 

This phase will improve your ability to use the oxygen you breathe and improve your anaerobic capacity. Both of these will significantly improve your cycling or triathlon performance. 

Preparation

This phase is used in the run up to key events and competition to maximise your performance on race day. 

Using advanced active breathwork practices we will simulate high altitude to improve your VO2 max. Research has proven this type of breathwork can increase your VO2 max by up to 8%.

This phase is only deployed in the run up to an event.

Recover

This phase is about maximising your recovery cycle using breathwork. Using static breathwork practices we will stimulate and strengthen your immune system and trigger the natural production of cortisol in the body. This anti inflammatory will speed up your recovery so you can return to training and competition sooner. 


What's Included?

- Periodised Breathwork Program delivered through Training Peaks


- Regular Bolt Score and physical testing to monitor progress.


- A pre competition preparation 121 session to maximise the benefit of the program.


The Horsepower Breathwork Program bolt on costs £40/month with a minimum sign up period of 3 months.
